Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for a summer internship in our Anchorage, Alaska location. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Work in our Geotechnical Testing Laboratory and possible assist in field operations.
Carry out laboratory tests on geotechnical projects (soils, aggregates, & rock);
Shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage of and disposal of samples; and
Cleaning, maintaining, repairing and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes
A college degree in geotechnical, geological, civil engineering or engineering geology; or currently enrolled in an accredited engineering/geology program required;
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Knowledge of general geology and soil mechanics is preferred;
Must have the ability to work overtime hours (including evenings and weekends);
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with frequent bending over;
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, possess problem solving abilities, and keen mathematical and analytical aptitude. The ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment while maintaining strict quality standards is a must.
