Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a CAD Designer specializing in Civil / Mechanical Pipeline Design for our Houston, TX and Tampa, FL offices. In this role you will report to a Pipeline Engineer in the office and coordinate with Lead Designers within Golder to ensure deliverables are being produced in accordance with our client’s and / or Golder’s Pipeline Engineering Design Practices. If you have design/drafting experience in pipelines or the linear utility industry and are capable of directing the work of lower level designers and CAD technicians, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.
You may be required to travel occasionaly for training and to visit project sites for gathering data for the design including field measurements, notes and photographs.
Additional duties will include:
Working closely with multiple engineering disciplines and scientists to provide engineering 2D and 3D drafting and design services.
Developing design packages associated with Oil and Gas linear pipelines and associated facilities.
Preparing engineering plans, profiles, sections and details, for design, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets; and figures for proposals, reports and presentations.
Compiling and/or Model 3D surfaces representing various engineering features such as graded terrain, waterways, wetlands, roads, railroads, etc.
Networking with other related professionals within Golder Associates as well as industry organizations and groups.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general AutoCAD plans production.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in linear utility, industrial piping and/or facility design.
Minimum high school diploma, AA or equivalent preferred
Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
Good problem solving and the ability to identify alternative solutions.
Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
Knowledge of plant 3D or similar preferred.
Candidates should have experience in the following areas:
Pipeline or linear utility design experience including pipeline alignment and plan and profile drawing development.
AutoCAD Civil 3D required, additional experience with MicroStation is beneficial.
Civil / Site Plan development including Erosion and Sediment Control Plans is preferred.
Demonstrated experience with complex drawing files/drawings.
Perform basic design calculations and gathering material take-off information.
Create and utilize tin volume surfaces to compute surface to surface volumes. Banding diagrams, isopaths, and other surface analysis experience a plus.
Experience developing design standards in conjunction with engineers.
The preferred candidate will also possess some of the following additional skills and qualifications:
Mechanical design experience including process piping.
Mechanical Piping and Plot Plans, PFD’s and P&ID’s is preferred.
Oil and Gas Station/Terminal or Industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, etc.) and piping layouts.
Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, P&ID or Mechanical Desktop
Experience with CADWORX
Piping design experience.
Field construction experience in an industrial setting.
Experience and proficiency with ArcGIS®.
Demonstrable experience required in:
Autodesk AutoCAD® Civil 3D
Google Earth Pro
Adobe Acrobat Pro (incl. PDF creation in AutoCAD)
It would be considered a plus to show demonstrable experience in any of the following:
- Autodesk AutoCAD® P&ID
Autodesk AutoCAD® Plant 3D
Autodesk AutoCAD® Structural Detailing
Autodesk AutoCAD® Electrical
Autodesk® Revit® Structure
