Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Houston, TX location. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Provide field and office support for civil, geotechnical, remediation and solid waste projects.
Work may include, but not be limited to:
Assisting on preparation of permit applications;
Performing basic civil engineering calculations, such as hydraulics, hydrologic, stormwater design;
Quantity and cost estimates;
Geotechnical instrumentation monitoring;
Field investigations including soil boring and test pit logging, sampling, and visual classification of soils;
Groundwater monitoring well installation and sampling;
Construction quality assurance monitoring; and
Data compilation and checking.
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Enrolled at a credited university in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, with current standing as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
Previous intern or co-op experience a plus but not required.
Valid state-issued driver’s license.
Good communication and writing skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and team oriented attitude.
Capability to lift up to 40 lbs., such as moving geotechnical monitoring equipment in the field.
Willing to work outdoors in the range of weather common in the southern US.
Willing to perform field work of short to medium-term duration at project locations in the area and participate in training/project assignments of short duration in other Golder offices in the region.
Local candidate preferred; no relocation provided.
