Job Responsibilities:

The Houston office of Golder Associates is seeking a Junior AutoCAD Technician to join our dynamic team. This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your technical skills in the field with like-minded professionals in an employee-owned international engineering firm.

The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the various engineering and environmental groups to fill the needs of our internal and external clients in providing engineering design and drafting services;

  • Producing maps from topographic data and survey field notes;

  • Preparing key plans, site plans, and site design drawings including cross-sections, profiles, construction drawings, as-built drawings, tender documents, figures, sketches, and charts for presentation in reports and proposals;

  • Performing calculations (such as volume and area estimates using CAD tools) and provide technical assistance to the project design teams;

  • Preparing civil engineering design drawings; and,

  • Being responsible for product quality control with adherence to company standards and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience (site plans and engineering drawings) working with AutoCAD is required;

  • A technical degree with CAD training is a plus;

  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD is required, and experience with Civil3D is preferred;

  • A commitment to CAD standards and procedures is essential to this function;

  • The ability to work with multiple people and prioritize tasks is a must;

  • This role may require infrequent travel;

  • Our ideal candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, and be highly organized. You will also have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

  • The ability to learn and work with any of the following software would be considered an asset: AutoCAD Land Desktop, AutoCAD Civil3D, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design, AutoLisp, and AutoCAD Visual Basic for Applications.
