Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Jacksonville, FL location. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide field and office support for civil, geotechnical, remediation and solid waste projects.

  • Work may include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting on preparation of permit applications;

  • Performing basic civil engineering calculations, such as hydraulics, hydrologic, stormwater design;

  • Quantity and cost estimates;

  • Geotechnical instrumentation monitoring;

  • Field investigations including soil boring and test pit logging, sampling, and visual classification of soils;

  • Groundwater monitoring well installation and sampling;

  • Construction quality assurance monitoring; and

  • Data compilation and checking.

Job Requirements:

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Enrolled at a credited university in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, with successful completion of at least two semesters or three quarters of full-time course studies.

  • Previous intern or co-op experience a plus but not required.

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.

  • Good communication and writing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and team oriented attitude.

  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs., such as moving geotechnical monitoring equipment in the field.

  • Willing to work outdoors in the range of weather common in the eastern US.

  • Willing to perform field work of short to medium-term duration at project locations in the area and participate in training/project assignments of short duration in other Golder offices in the region.

  • Local candidate preferred; no relocation provided.
