Golder is seeking an experienced GIS Analyst and Draftsperson with an interest in producing professional quality maps and figures for a global mining consulting team.

Candidate will be expected to apply knowledge of GIS technology, cartography, spatial data collection, management, manipulation, and analysis. Candidate must have a solid understanding of spatial reference including coordinate systems, projections, and geographic transformations. Candidate will also be expected to assist with preparing CAD drawings. Candidate must be a team orientated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment.


  • Work closely with engineers, geologists, and scientists to analyze and manage spatial data relating to mining and ground engineering projects.

  • Prepare professional engineering graphics, maps and exhibits for use in proposals, presentations, and reports.

  • Expand and maintain a vast spatial data library

  • Use advanced knowledge of ArcGIS to produce project base maps which combine data of differing types and sources for a variety of mining related projects.

  • Assist project teams with AutoCAD and Civil 3D mapping and analysis requirements.

Job Requirements:

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or closely related field (geography, earth science, surveying, engineering) or completion of certification course in GIS/CAD or related field of study.

  • 5 years of direct professional experience in GIS techniques and technologies, specifically using ESRI ArcGIS software and extensions; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.

  • Working knowledge of spatial data types, spatial reference systems, attribution, and metadata.

  • Applicant will possess working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D software.

  • Ideal candidate will possess basic knowledge of geology and mining related data

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access.

  • Applicant must feel comfortable training others (engineers, geologists, scientists) in the capabilities and best practices of GIS and CAD.

  • Experience in cartography and the production of presentation quality maps and figures.

  • Candidate must be willing to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects/tasks and respond to the needs of various project teams.

  • Strong sense of commitment to drafting standards and procedures

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be a self-starter and be comfortable working under little guidance
