Reporting to the Mine Water Division Leader, the primary focus for the Hydrogeologist is to grow Golder’s mining market share related to groundater services using existing networks, to develope new business opportunities, and to understand and maintain existing key client relationships. The Hydrogeologist provides guidance and consulting services in specialist areas and is expected to establish strong linkages across the Global Mining business. A key component of the Hydrogeologist’s role is to work with local Golder counterparts and external clients to develop opportunities, and liaise and link the delivery of those opportunities to the broader mine water hydrogeological technical team, much of which is currently located in other Golder offices. This role is an integral part of the development and delivery of the Mining business strategy for Mine Water Services, in line with Golder’s Vision, Charter, and Destination.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Display safety leadership

  • Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder Mining team to implement the business growth strategy, develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base, and build a vibrant Mine Water Practice.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards.

  • Deliver leading practice consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of hydrogeologic characterization, feasibility studies, environmental permitting, water rights, mine dewatering, injection and well testing, environmental impact assessments for the resource industry.

  • Have demonstrable ability in water supply work and groundwater modelling

  • Manage groundwater modelling studies including: pre-feasibility and feasibility water and environmental, permitting and permit compliance, remediation, water supply and dewatering,

  • In conjunction with the Reno-based mining team (Mine Waste and Mine Engineering & Stability) and the Mine Water Division Leader, and with support from the Marketing team, identify, coordinate and undertake marketing and promotional activities for the specialist area region.

  • Encourage, promote and facilitate the effective sharing/coordination of resources among Mine Water consulting teams to maximise productivity of the team and allow for skill development and succession planning

  • Establish linkages with other business units to support and enhance service delivery

Job Requirements:

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor degree in Hydrogeology or Geology or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management would be an advantage.

  • Connected to the mining business in the state of Nevada, with active contacts and clientele.

  • Experience in the state of Nevada related to Nevada water rights and environmental permitting. Similar experience in the Western United States will also be considered an asset.

  • Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body.

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the mining sector.

  • Proactive approach in technical service delivery.

  • Ability to lead and guide high performing teams.

  • High-level communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.

  • Track record of winning work individually and for others.

  • Flexible, adaptive to change and demanding conditions.

  • High-level project management experience.
