Reporting to the Mine Environment Division Leader, and working closely with outher senior envrionmental practitioners in the US, the primary focus for the Senior Environmental Practitioner is to grow Golder’s mining market share using existing networks, developing new business opportunities, and understanding and maintaining existing key client relationships. The successful hire provides guidance and consulting services in specialist areas and is expected to establish strong linkages across the Global Mining business. This role is an integral part of the development and delivery of the Mining business strategy for Mine Environmental Services, in line with Golder’s Vision, Charter, and Destination.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Display safety leadership
Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder Mining team to implement the business growth strategy, develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base, and build a vibrant Mine Environment Practice with specific focus in the US.
Leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards.
Deliver leading practice consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of permitting, environmental assessments, baseline studies, geochemistry, air, noise, aquatics, terrestrial, water quality, mine safety, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, monitoring, compliance, etc.
In conjunction with the Divisional Leader, US-based senior colleagues and support from the Marketing team, identify, coordinate and undertake marketing and promotional activities for the specialist area region.
Encourage, promote and facilitate the effective sharing/coordination of resources among Mine Environment consulting teams to maximise productivity of the team and allow for skill development and succession planning
Establish linkages with other business units to support and enhance service delivery
The successful candidate will have all, or an appropriate mix, of the following attributes:
Bachelor degree in Geosciences, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications would be an advantage.
Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body.
Minimum 20+ years’ experience in the mining sector.
Proactive approach in technical service delivery.
Ability to lead and guide high performing teams.
High-level communication and presentation skills.
Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
Industry or agency experience.
Experience obtaining state and federal permits and negotiating with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated experience implementing environmental monitoring projects is preferred.
Track record of winning work individually and for others.
Flexible, adaptive to change and demanding conditions.
High-level project management experience.
