Job Responsibilities:

Golder Associates is currently seeking a Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our team in Richmond, VA. In this role you will manage environmental projects that involve field studies, report preparation, budget management, regulatory compliance, and interaction with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators. Some of the exciting projects will include groundwater, surface water, soil, and air sampling; environmental site assessments; regulatory permitting; subsurface site characterizations involving drilling, soil classification, and bedrock mapping; and hazardous waste site characterization and remediation. These projects are located throughout the region, so this position requires occasional travel and fieldwork.

Duties include:

  • Understand various regulatory environments and associated technical requirements;

  • Identify, develop, and manage the delivery of solutions to our clients;

  • Supervise, coordinate, and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior engineers and scientists, including health and safety activities;

  • Identify business opportunities and prepare proposals (scope, schedule, and budget);

  • Manage projects, including contractual compliance and risk management;

  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects through all phases of development, including primary client contact;

  • Provide technical reviews of project deliverables;

  • Assist with junior staff mentoring, and team planning and development.

Job Requirements:

  • A B.S. (minimum) in geology, environmental science, or similar earth science is required.

  • Professional certification preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of environmental project experience, including project management, proposal writing, client contact, and regulatory interaction is required.

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience, and the passion and desire to excel;

  • The ability to accumulate and share technical knowledge across a broad spectrum audience of both technical and non-technical persons;

  • Team management skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders; and

  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
