An opportunity now exists for a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our Anchorage team. The focus of the work includes developing and conducting geotechnical field investigation programs, geotechnical engineering analysis, and reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with our Alaska geotechnical group that specializes in permafrost related geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, and cold regions geotechnical engineering.
Experience leading and managing small to medium sized geotechnical investigations is desirable. The position will require travel and work at remote locations in Alaska and other areas as needed to meet project requirements. Some of the major responsibilities of this position include:
Developing and leading geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing programs
Performing geotechnical analyses (pile, shallow foundation, slope, geothermal) and developing applicable design criteria
Writing technical reports
Contributing to projects as a team member and/or team leader, developing business relationships, communicating with the client(s)
Passenger vehicle driving will be required for some services
It is preferred that candidates have a master’s degree from an ABET accredited university in geotechnical or civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering along with a minimum 4 years applicable professional experience. Professional engineer registration is preferred. Successful candidates must demonstrate ability to obtain Alaska Professional Engineer registration within 6 months of hire date. In addition, the candidate should have demonstrated experience conducting geotechnical site investigations and familiarity with drilling and sampling in cold regions and/or permafrost as well as experience with commercial geotechnical engineering software.
The candidate must be eligible for employment status in the United States and possess a valid United States driver’s license. In addition, the candidate must have a professional work ethic, interact well with the public, have excellent teamwork skills, and pass a pre-employment physical including drug screen and background check. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with verbal and written proficiency in English.
