An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer based in Auckland. This will provide you the opportunity to provide technical leadership and help shape the geotechnical team at a time of significant government investment in infrastructure and work alongside leading technical and academic experts from across our global business.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
Providing technical advice and mentoring on complex geotechnical issues to clients and internal staff;
Technical Reviews fostering technical quality of deliverables in Auckland and the wider New Zealand business;
Managing and maintaining key client relationships, developing strategy, technical service offerings and significant business opportunities;
Building your reputation as a Technical Leader with leadership of project teams on consulting assignments;
Contributing to office strategy and direction as a key senior member of staff;
Project managing, budgeting, and quality control for consulting assignments;
Embracing and leading our strong H&S culture, providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating and eliminating high priority safety hazards;
Participating in industry groups and/or expert panels as part of maintaining a high industry profile;
Liaising with specialists from other disciplines or offices within Golder;
Mentoring and coaching staff with respect to their career growth and professional development; and
Participating in the national and global Golder Technical Geotechnical Community within projects or other forums.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Tertiary qualified in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering with CPEng accreditation, including previous operational, technical and management exposure in operational and consulting environments will be highly regarded;
Experience on large, intermediate and small size jobs in a cross section of sectors, at a senior level;
Excellent reputation across a range of New Zealand horizontal and vertical infrastructure markets;
Demonstrated depth of existing client, contractor, consultant, and supplier relationships across a variety of New Zealand horizontal and vertical infrastructure markets;
Good analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail including strong ability to analyse, interpret and communicate information.
Experience in mentoring, coaching and leading successful teams;
Have a positive and friendly attitude, couple with strong communication skills;
Ability to build rapport amongst clients and other industry leaders; and
Flexible, adaptive to change and demanding conditions.
