Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Water Resource Engineer who is a self-starter and enjoys regular challenges to join our team full-time based in our Auckland office. You will be working on a variety of civil infrastructure projects New Zealand.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Surface water flow monitoring, hydrology data processing, building rating curves and strong understanding of river and catchment hydrologics for both high and low flow conditions;
Developing hydrological assessments of environmental effects and conducting hydrological field investigations, including waded gauging, bore pump testing, water quality monitoring, gauging station set up and data retrieval;
Using hydrological/data management software (e.g. Hilltop) to develop gauge ratings, conduct flood frequency analysis, generate artificial hydrological flow records in support of integrated catchment management planning, urban hydrology, stormwater and mining/industrial projects;
Using GoldSIM to assist in modelling mine-sites, with water quality components;
Completing of studies, analyses and calculations in hydrology (catchment assessments, extraction and statistical analysis of climate data, water balance calculations, hydrological modelling);
Completing studies, analyses and calculations in surface water hydraulics (water flow modelling in natural rivers as well as sizing and design of ditches, culverts and other hydraulic works);
Overseeing field investigations and hydrological monitoring and assessment (flow, rain, etc.) including HSE aspects, equipment selection and the organisation, analysis and presentation of data;
Mentoring and developing junior and intermediate team members; and
Supervision of sub-consultants, project management, client liaison and supporting of business development and marketing activities as required.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Bachelor of engineering or relevant degree, with chartered or working toward chartered status (MIPENZ, CPEng or equivalent) will be highly regarded;
At least 10 years of water design engineering experience the New Zealand market and local government authorities;
Strong background in stormwater projects and knowledge of the relevant engineering codes including a high level of experience in project management skills; and
Demonstrated strong client relationship and business development skills .
