Golder has a new opportunity for Junior Water Resources Engineers or Scientists to join our Water Resources team on a contract basis located in both the Ottawa Area and GreaterToronto Area.
An overview of your role will include:
Executingproject work with a focus on hydrometric and climate monitoring, hydrologic andhydraulic evaluations, watershed management, development impact evaluations,design of hydraulic structures and storm water management systems, naturalchannel design, flood line mapping, water and sediment quality assessments andmodelling, and environmental compliance and permitting;
Developingproject work plans with senior support;
Completingfield studies including flow measurements, erosion and sediment control monitoring,and water quality sampling;
Implementinghydraulic, hydrologic and water quality analyses;
Participatingin the preparation of reports and proposals;
Recording,processing and analyzing data;
Workingcollaboratively in a study team setting that combines the skill sets of otherspecialists, such as Mine Engineers, Risk Assessors, Geotechnologists,Hydrogeologists, and Ecologists, to deliver high-end solutions.
You will have to possess the following qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering from a PEO Accredited University is required. Qualified specialists in environmental science with a water resources focus and post graduate degrees will also be considered;
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, as well as interpretation of water quality data;
Familiarity with current hydrology, hydraulics, database and GIS software; data modelling experience preferred;
Experience in river engineering, fluvial geomorphology and scour analysis;
Exposure to environmental impact assessments, surface water monitoring programs, aggregate resource development, industrial storm water management, and environmental permitting;
Strong analytical and communication skills;
Valid driver’s license, noting that job duties will include operating as a field team driver in the GTA, remote areas, and occasionally off-road;
Willing to travel for work in other areas including the possibility of remote locations;
Excellent technical writing skills;
An ability to manage time and resources effectively.
