We currently have vacancies for both experienced and entry-level Environmental Monitoring Technicians to join our growing team of field monitoring staff based across our Leeds, Nottingham and Bourne End offices. Working independently or as part of a small team, you will be responsible for conducting high quality environmental monitoring to gather data to support a range of environmental projects being undertaken on behalf of our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of sites across the UK including highly regulated environments such as nuclear licensed sites.

Key Responsibilities

n Undertake high quality environmental monitoring of groundwater, surface water, soil, gas, vapour, dust, and air quality.

n Manage collected samples, including preparation of chain of custody documentation, scheduling of laboratory tests, and liaison with contractors.

n Record to a high level of accuracy all information obtained during monitoring in both paper and electronic (spreadsheet or database) format.

n Liaise professionally with Golder’s clients during site work.

The role requires regular travel (70-80% of the time), primarily working away from home within the UK, and often at short notice; flexibility with working hours is essential. The post holder will be sponsored to obtain security clearances through United Kingdom Security Vetting to enable work on nuclear licensed sites.

Essentials Skills and experience

n Disciplined approach to work, demonstrating independence, reliability and a practical ‘can do’ attitude.

n Excellent time-management, time-keeping and organisational capabilities.

n Ability to perform and remain calm under pressure.

n Understanding of health and safety requirements.

n Proficient user of Microsoft Office packages.

n Full clean UK driving licence and confidence to travel long-distances or on unknown roads.

n Willingness to travel and work outside in all weathers, and at any given location in the UK and Ireland.

Desirable

n Experience of working on large-scale industrial facilities or in highly regulated environments such as nuclear licensed sites, petrochemical facilities, oil & gas facilities, and heavy manufacturing facilities.

n Degree or HND (or equivalent) qualified.

n Experience of working for an Environmental Consultancy.
