Golder is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join our Mining team in the UK . In your role you will be involved in providing technical leadership, project leadership, and engineering design to a variety of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver services such as mine optimisation, design, and scheduling, Reserve estimation, due diligence reviews, preliminary assessments, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies.

Responsibilities of the role will include:


  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Golder Mining team to implement the business growth strategy, develop, and maintain relationships with a broad client base

  • Establish linkages with other groups and business units within Golder to support and enhance service delivery

  • Build market position by establishing and developing relationships with both new and existing clients to optimise business opportunities for Golder

  • Engage in business development activities, identifying and pursuing (when appropriate) opportunities for Golder. This will include client meetings and attending networking events on behalf of Golder UK

  • Understand our client’s technical needs and/or challenges and business needs through a continuous programme of client feedback and suggested improvements, thereby identifying opportunities for selling services

  • Assist and lead in the delivery of proposals, providing senior review of complex technical reports, technical direction, project management, teamwork, and delegation

  • Work collaboratively with the team and other technical disciplines to troubleshoot, resolve project related issues, and liaise with clients as needed

  • Undertake project-related travel and site work, working away both in the UK and overseas. The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client needs

  • Achieve and maintain a specified chargeability, assuming the remaining time is invested in equal portions between business development, proposals, mentoring/training and administrative tasks

  • Contribute to the coaching and mentoring of the team, assisting in the development of their specialist skills and knowledge


  • Undertake technical reviews and due diligence of natural resources and associated projects, in an auditable and justifiable manner, applying appropriate care and diligence in line with recognised best practice

  • Undertake mine optimisation, planning, design, and scheduling aspects of technical assignments using relevant, appropriate, and established software

  • Prepare technical reports in line with Golder’s internal and recognised industry standards and format (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101)


  • Provide input into Project Management of mining related projects including Studies (Conceptual/Scoping through to full Feasibility), bespoke technical assignments, and Due Diligence

  • Ensure Golder’s Project Management standards are applied across all aspects and that the necessary review and sign off on projects are consistently completed according to our Accountability/Responsibility Matrix (ARM)

  • Support delivery of major multi-disciplinary projects through management of key stakeholders and contractors

  • Provide technical input to the project team


  • Adhere to our corporate HSSE policies and procedures as outlined in the Global HSSE Manual

  • Preparation of HSSE plans, adhering to site-specific health and safety plans and conducting hazard assessments to mitigate or eliminate risks to Golder staff, Golder’s clients, employees, and the public

  • Identify and report potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs

  • Identify key enterprise value business areas and translate to specific objectives, initiatives and projects

  • Enhance project success rate by applying Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to all projects


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering.

  • Successful management of at least two medium-sized projects through all the stages of the project management life cycle.

  • Three or more years of design engineering and/or project management experience.

  • Good understanding of project and contract management, project scheduling, cost management, resource management, HSSE management, commercial awareness, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated experience in mine engineering studies gained through directly related job experience or a combination of formal training and on-the-job training.

  • Proficient in utilising mine planning, design, and scheduling software packages such as Vulcan, Surpac, Deswick, Datamine, Gemcom (or related).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and including report writing, position paper development and publication/presentation of research results.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills.

  • Willingness and ability to manage client and other professional relationships.

  • Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment.

  • Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations.


  • Master’s Degree in Mine Engineering or similar field.

  • Additional language skills.
