Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety Consultant to join our Environmental Managemen t team on a full-time basis based in either our Nottingham or Bourne End office (requests for other locations and flexible working will be considered).
The role of the Senior Health and Safety (H&S) Consultant will be to support the Transaction and Compliance (T&C) Leader and EM Business Unit Leader, by identifying and developing business opportunities for the EM team in the UK.
The Senior H&S Consultant will ensure the timely delivery of major proposals that are commercially and technically sound, and take responsibility for delivery of selected projects in a Project Manger role, through effective leadership, technical direction, technical input, project management, team work and mentoring.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Work collaboratively with the T&C Leader and EM Business Unit Leader, and key stakeholders to develop and implement the UK Strategy, building a strong sales and opportunities pipeline in Health and Safety (and Environment) services for Golder UK;
Act as a Project Manager and Project Director, take responsibility for the successful delivery of medium to high complexity projects and/or provide senior review of complex technical reports and work collaboratively with project teams;
Develop a Golder network, locally, nationally and internationally, to nurture relationships with internal delivery teams technical leaders and technical communities;
Consistently demonstrate and visibly lead a strong commitment to Golder’s Equality Policy;

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
A NEBOSH Diploma, Degree or MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant health and safety subject;
Relevant Chartered Safety Professional (e.g. CMIOSH, MIIRSM);
Demonstrable experience of Health and Safety in a consulting environment;
Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues;
Demonstrable consulting experience working with significant clients on H&S (and environmental) regulatory compliance and sustainability including H&S Management Systems (OHSAS18001/ISO45001 and ISO14001), H&S(E) auditing, H&S(E) compliance and improvement programs and training;
Knowledge and experience in some of the following areas: industrial hygiene/occupational health, work equipment, hazardous substances management and control, noise and vibration, stress, manual handling, work environment, fire and explosion, emergency planning;
Strong experience of working in one or more of the following sectors: manufacturing (pharmaceutical and biotechnology, chemicals, food & drink, industrial, aerospace etc), waste, mining, oil & gas, and infrastructure.
Demonstrable experience of undertaking, managing, reviewing and advising clients on H&S matters;
Good knowledge and practical experience of implementing relevant legislation relating to, amongst other things heath, and safety compliance;
Demonstrable work winner with an ability to write technically and commercially sound proposals based on an excellent understanding of clients’ requirements;
Excellent project management skills with demonstrable ability to manage medium to high complexity projects and multi-disciplinary teams with limited supervision;
Strong leadership, delegation, mentoring and influencing skills;
Excellent time management and organisational skills;
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English, with good attention to detail;
A full driving licence; and
A willingness and ability to travel in the UK and internationally.
