Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior CAD Technician (Drafter I) to join our team on a full-time basis based in Calgary.
An overview of your role will include:
Working closely with the various engineering and environmental groups to fill the needs of our internal and external clients in providing engineering design and drafting services
Producing maps from topographic data and survey field notes
Preparing key plans, site plans, and site design drawings including cross-sections, profiles, details, construction drawings, as-built drawings, tender documents, figures, sketches, and charts for presentation in reports and proposals
Performing calculations (such as volume and area estimates using CAD tools) and provide technical assistance to the project design teams
Preparing civil engineering design drawings
Input of test hole log data into specialized database software
Being responsible for product quality control with adherence to company standards and procedures
The successful candidate will have the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:
A technical diploma, CAD certificate or equivalent
A working knowledge of AutoCAD is required, and experience with Civil 3D is preferred
A commitment to CAD standards and procedures is essential to this function
Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions
Ability to perform various calculations and data manipulation in Excel
The ability to work with multiple people and prioritize tasks is a must
The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
This role may require infrequent travel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
The ability to learn and work with any of the following software would be considered an asset: AutoCAD, Civil3D, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design, Surfer, gINT
