Golder has a new opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Consultant to join and provide leadership to the Environmental Remediation Group on a full time basis based in Edmonton or Calgary. The Geo-Environmental Consultant will work with our Geo-Environmental Team, which consists of professional geoscientists, engineers, environmental specialists and technicians.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Provide leadership in the growth of a dynamic environmental services practice for the Alberta and Prairies and North Operation (PNO) regional market

  • Implementation of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation and groundwater monitoring programs, as well as business development and leading client liaison and development initiatives for the PNO Geo-Environmental team

  • Work on a wide range of contaminated sites, geology/hydrogeology projects and other related environmental duties as required

  • Be involved at all stages of the site assessment and remediation process, including, characterization and remediation of contaminated sites (including design and implementation of remedial strategies) and regulatory liaison. Familiarity with the regulatory environment in Alberta is an asset

  • Provide leadership in business development and developing client relationships for clients in Alberta

  • Liaise with Golder staff external to Calgary or Edmonton, to share with, and assist as required

  • Travel nationally or internationally when required to conduct project work

  • Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff

  • Maintaining a high standard of behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values

  • Provide support to senior staff

  • Performing other tasks as required

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Hydrology, Civil, Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering

  • Academic qualifications which give the candidate eligibility for professional registration in Alberta (P.Geo. or P.Eng.)

  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience

  • Strong team player – ability to work with all levels of an organization

  • Detail oriented with focus on quality of work

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexibility to work extra hours and for business travel when required

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be fit to wear a respirator

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
