Golder has a new opportunity for a Geotechnical Field Technician to join our Geotechnical Engineering & Laboratory team on a full-time basis located in Calgary, Alberta.
An overview of your role will include:
Provide technical services in a field, laboratory and office environment
Supervise and/or carry out site geotechnical inspections of construction work and materials testing
Conduct in situ testing of various materials on construction sites, compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt
Geotechnical laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete materials, including documentation and reporting
General clean-up and maintenance of lab and field equipment
Complete geotechnical investigations including test pitting, drilling, and cone penetration tests
Field nuclear density compaction testing
Participate in a team environment
Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff
Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and work with and provide support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision
Participating in sample receipt, handling, and storage control
You will have a background in:
Diploma in Civil Technology or related discipline from an accredited institution would be considered an asset
Valid CCIL concrete, asphalt or aggregate testing certification would be considered an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Valid driver’s license (please provide a driver’s abstract with resume)
Exposure to geotechnical soils testing is preferred
Strong workplace health and safety practices
