Golder has a new opportunity for an HSSE Advisor to join our HSSE team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. This position has a requirement to be based in Vancouver so relocation assistance can be negotiated with the successful candidate.
The Advisor provides operational HSSE support to employees, supervisors, and leaders (managers), within their assigned Operational groups, ensuring compliance with and understanding of legislated HSSE requirements, industry best practices and internal HSSE policies and procedures.
This role provides advice, coaching, and mentoring to all staff levels at the project, group and office levels. This position reports directly to the HSSE Compliance Leader for Canada and is part of a broader team throughout Canada that works to ensure that HSSE is delivered in a consistent and technically excellent manner.
An overview of your role will include:
Point of contact on HSSE issues for the assigned operational group(s) within British Columbia.
Supports the effective implementation and application of local HSSE programs and processes within their scope of authority and proactively addresses potential challenges / problems.
Supports reports to local Senior Management and local operations on HSSE issues and trends and recommend solutions to address where required.
Assist in aligning HSSE systems with legislative standards/requirements
Provide guidance and resources to HSSE Committees
Support operations as they deliver services to clients, build client relationships, and align with client commitments to HSSE
Facilitate HSSE orientations and other training for new employees as required
Provide input for ongoing HSSE communications within the assigned groups, and HSSE Committees including incident information, alerts, safety shares, HSSE metrics, trends, and activities to internal stakeholders
Assist in the achievement of regulatory compliance through knowledge in applicable OHS and Environmental legislation and regulation, industry best practices and standards
Participate in the completion, review, and communication of incident investigations as required by OHS regulation and Golder’s HSSE Management System
Conduct inspections and audits of worksites including offices, warehouses, labs, and project sites at locations throughout British Columbia.
You will have a background in:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in HSSE or equivalent formal education.
Expert knowledge and competency in in WorkSafe BC Regulations. Added value for competency on a specialty field (Security, Radiation, Industrial Hygiene).
Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation (or other professional E/OHS designation) or working towards meeting eligibility requirements.
5-10 years combined experience.
Experience in consulting engineering, construction, mining and/or oil and gas sectors is an asset
Experience with recognized management systems (OSHAS 18000, ISO 14001, COR) and auditing certifications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills .
Good problem solver with the ability to identify multiple potential solutions for a given challenge.
Self-starter and highly motivated.
Available to travel throughout British Columbia for extended periods in support of field programs and offices.
Available for extended working hours when required
Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
