Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Groundwater Modeller to join our Water team on a full-time basis based in Calgary.
An overview of yourrole will include:
Manageand drive groundwater modelling projects
Developand apply analytical and numerical groundwater models as required to supportenvironmental impact assessments, regional groundwater resource evaluations,mine dewatering planning and optimization, and municipal water supply projects
Analysisand interpretation of model results and hydrogeological data and preparation ofreports
Mentorjunior team members
Workclosely with other members of the Golder groundwater modelling team in Calgaryas well as the wider Golder groundwater technical community across Canada andaround the world in a collaborative environment
You will have abackground in:
UndergraduateDegree in Civil, Geological or Environmental Engineering with a specializationin groundwater modelling through course work or undergraduate projects/thesisis preferred; candidates with degrees in Geology or Environmental Sciences whohave strong analytical and quantitative skills and candidates with otherdegrees having a strong quantitative component such as physics or appliedmathematics will also be considered; a post-graduate degree (M.Sc., Ph.D.) inEngineering, Hydrogeology or related discipline is preferred
Atleast 5 to 10 years of groundwater modelling experience
Soundacademic knowledge of physical hydrogeology; knowledge of geology is an asset
Consultingindustry experience is an asset
Experiencewith industry-standard numerical modelling packages (e.g., MODFLOW, GroundwaterVistas, FEFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, MIKE SHE) is an asset
Soundknowledge and work experience with PEST and Null Space Monte Carlo analyses isan asset
Strongcomputer skills, including working with GIS-type software, digital databases,visualization software, etc.
Programmingexperience is an asset
Strongtechnical writing skills
Somepractical experience with physical hydrogeology, including borehole logging,monitoring well installation, hydraulic conductivity testing and pumping testsis an asset
Excellentwork ethic with strong organization and time management skills
Strongcommunication and critical thinking skills
Abilityto work effectively within a team environment
Eligiblefor professional registration in Alberta
Availabilityfor some business travel, when required
