Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist to join our Water team on a full-time basis based in Calgary or Edmonton .
An overview of yourrole will include:
Preparingand/or reviewing detailed work scopes, cost estimates for physical hydrogeologyrelated proposals
Developing,planning, managing, and reporting on hydrogeological field investigationprograms that may include: drilling, soil sampling, coring, monitoring wellinstallation, single, and multi-well aquifer pumping or injection testing,water, and dissolved gas sampling
Interpretingand reporting on hydrogeological conditions, conceptual site models, migrationimpacts, and assessing the need for modifications to monitoring programs
Projectmanagement and reporting of hydrogeological assessments for: a variety ofprojects including oil sands industry, baseline hydrogeological studies, minedewatering projects, and ground water supply development
Projectmanagement including project staffing, project development and implementation,technical guidance, budget tracking, invoicing, and QA/QC in conformance withinternal procedures and standards
Regularinteraction with clients to develop new opportunities and to discuss projectstatus, invoicing, data collection, interpretation, recommendations, andcompliance issues
Workingwith regulatory agencies to establish submission requirements and obtainapprovals for permits
Fieldwork covering a broad range of technical services in the field of hydrogeologyincluding involvement in the groundwater component of Environmental ImpactAssessments for the oil sands industry; baseline hydrogeological studies, minedewatering projects, and ground water supply development
You will have abackground in:
Master’sdegree in Geology/Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering,with demonstrated course work of thesis in physical hydrogeology and/or geochemistryand geophysics
Licensedas a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist in the Province ofAlberta (or equivalent
Atleast five years of experience preferably with direct experience in Alberta
Demonstratedability to scope and manage small teams, work under the supervision of moresenior staff, and the ability to work independently
Solidorganizational skills (prioritization, time management, record keeping, followup, tracking)
Consistentattention to detail and strong technical writing skills
Willingnessto travel and participate in remote field work, primarily within western andnorthern Canada and the ability to adapt to unpredictable and/or inclementfield conditions and changing schedules
Validdriver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (if hired, a driver’sabstract is required)
