Golder has a new opportunity for an IntermediateOccupational Hygiene Technologist to join our Environmental Remediation team on a full-time basis based in Calgary . This position is approximately 70% field work, and 30% office-based. Travel outside of Calgary (up to three weeks at a time) will be required.
An overview of yourrole will include:
Providingbasic project coordination services, which will include:
Initiatingclient contact for site access, health and safety orientations, etc.
Preparingproposals with assistance from a Project Manager/Project Director
Generatingreports and correspondence
Providingoccupational hygiene and safety services and expertise, which will include:
Conductingoccupational hygiene and safety site assessments
Conductingoccupational hygiene monitoring for chemical, biological and physical hazards
Conductingindoor air quality monitoring and assessments
Providinghazardous materials management expertise, including:
Conductingbuilding assessments for hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, andmould
Preparing,developing and tendering remediation specifications for hazardous materialremoval, including asbestos, lead, and mould
Providingon-site inspection services for hazardous materials abatement and remediationprojects, including contractor oversight, air sampling, and reporting
Activelyparticipating in and encouraging adherence to our Health and Safety program andindustry best practice
Participatingin the development and mentoring of junior technical staff
Allother duties as required
You will have abackground in:
Bachelor’sdegree in Occupational Health & Safety, Sciences (Biological Sciences,Chemistry, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent
Aminimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Hygiene Technologist orHazardous Building Materials Professional with preference given to thoseapplicants who have experience in the consulting field
Certificationor actively working towards the following designations: Certified Industrial orOccupational Hygienist (CIH or ROH), Canadian Registered Safety Professional(CRSP), or Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT)
Indepth knowledge of occupational health and safety
Workingknowledge of occupational hygiene practices including maintenance andcalibration of field equipment
Knowledgeof building sciences and building systems (mechanical, structural,architectural) a definite asset
Experiencein providing services and/or training in confined spaces and/or hazardousmaterials management considered an asset
Provenability to participate as part of a team of skilled professionals
Demonstratedcommitment to execute and deliver the highest quality service
Theability to work weekends and evenings as required to meet project commitments
Abilityto balance/prioritize workload with several on-going field programs, and meet reportdeadlines
Theability to travel and work on a rotational basis outside of the local officedepending on project requirements
Experienceworking in the consulting and/or construction business in a project managementand client development role
