Golder has a new opportunity for an Environmental Scientist with a specialty in Aquatic Toxicology to join our Water team on a full-time basis.

We work on a wide variety of environmental toxicology, environmental assessment, aquatic ecology, contaminated sediment, and water quality projects for clients across Canada and need to grow our multi-disciplinary team. Office location for the successful candidate is flexible: Most of our practitioners are in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Vancouver, and Yellowknife, but the successful candidate can be based in other Canadian cities in our network of offices.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Leading project teams and able to effectively delegate and supervise junior staff to deliver on complicated deliverables

  • Able to critically evaluate data and able to work independently (when needed) to apply your technical knowledge to prepare high-quality work deliverables

  • Able to design and oversee environmental effects monitoring, baseline environmental characterizations, and toxicology or water quality assessments

  • Assisting with the development of site-specific water quality objectives

  • Able to apply a client-focused approach and demonstrate business acumen in developing proposals and scopes of work for our clients

You will have a background in:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. water quality, environmental science, aquatic sciences, or toxicology)

  • 5 to 10 years of previous work experience in environmental consulting or industry

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid understanding of statistics suitable to the work

  • Passion for working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment with strong interpersonal skills

Other desirable qualifications or skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise with Canadian EEM guidance

  • Higher-level training in applied statistics or computer programming
