Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Water Quality Specialist to join our Water team on a full-time basis based in Calgary orEdmonton. The successful candidate will be expected to learn from and work cooperatively with various members of the group including junior, intermediate and senior team members, with the opportunity to assume increasing autonomy and responsibility.
An overview of yourrole will include:
Dataentry and screening, summarizing datasets, statistical analysis and preparingwritten and graphical material for incorporating into reports and presentations
Implementationof quality assurance/quality control measures applicable to the task
Conductingliterature reviews on a range of topics
Supervising,training and mentoring junior staff
Demonstratinga commitment to team building
Providingreport summaries and/or critical analysis of reports
Assistingwith report and proposal preparation
Developingyour technical skills and sharing these skills with other members of your team
Participatingin a team environment
You will have abackground in:
Universitydegree (M.Sc. or higher preferred) in Biology, Ecology, Chemistry orEnvironmental Sciences
Minimumof 5 years of experience or equivalent
Backgroundin surface water quality, limnology or related discipline
Strongwritten and verbal communication skills
Experienceworking with surface water guidelines (aquatic life and drinking water) andsite-specific water quality objectives
Knowledgeof pertinent surface water legislation, regulations and guidance documents inwestern and northern Canada (e.g., MDMER, Fisheries Act, Water Board Policydocuments)
Abilityto carry out water quality assessments for environmental monitoring projects
Experiencedeveloping municipal and industrial discharge limits, and interpretation of waterquality modelling results
Generalunderstanding of water balance, loading calculations, and watershed management
Statisticsexperience, including trend analyses
