Golder has a new opportunity for a Project Mining Engineer to join our Mining team on a full-time basis based in Calgary.
An overview of your role will include:
Conduct a full range of mine engineering functions
Perform strategic modeling, design and engineering analyses duties, including interactive mine design and sequencing utilizing various mine modeling software packages. This will require working on projects with some supervision;
Apply Golder’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects
Work collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments
Maintain a balance of at least 75% chargeable hours
Work as a mentor to junior staff
Learn to identify, develop, and follow through on new business opportunities
Continually apply a high standard of ethical behaviour to promote and support Golder’s Core Values and Culture
You will have a background in:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering
Registered, or have the ability to register, as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training (EIT) in Canada
A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience with an emphasis on open pit mine planning, design and scheduling
Oil sands, mine operations, and underground mining experience are assets
Experience as a consulting engineer or with a technical services role within a mining company
Previous experience working on technical mining projects and contributing to technical reports
Appropriate experience in utilizing mine planning, design and scheduling software packages such as MineScape, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswick, Datamine, Gemcom, Mine 2-4D, and EPS
Fluent in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) considered an asset
Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation skills
Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations
