Golder Associates is seeking a Compensation Specialist to join their Human Resources team at their Mississauga, Vancouver or Calgary office.
Reporting to the Global Leader, Total Rewards & Mobility; in this role you will contribute to the planning, development, communication and implementation of new and existing compensation initiatives. You will research compensation best practices, identify market trends to establish guidelines and implement policies to support achievement of strategic business initiatives and HR strategic plan.
Responsibilities will include:
Researching, planning, developing, implementing and administering global compensation programs including base salary program, annual merit review, job evaluation, market pricing, and salary structures;
Contribute to the design, development and implementation of compensation strategies and programs;
Create, develop and maintain compensation guidelines and policies;
Research best practices in the industry to ensure programs are competitive and cost effective;
Manage and maintain the job evaluation process, including job analysis and grading in order to support internal equity;
Consultant to HR on the interpretation and application of compensation policies and guidelines;
Consultant to HR in recommending and influencing business decisions by supporting employee compensation programs/practices such as promotions, reclassifications etc.;
Maintain a working knowledge of legislation that may affect compensation policies;
Ongoing communication and education of HR, managers and employees around total rewards concepts and practices; and
Lead special projects as required.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications and behaviours:
University degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent experience coupled with a CCP or GRP designation;
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in compensation administration, analysis and design;
Regional compensation experience preferred (familiarity with practices/market trends / issues / statutory requirements of the US);
Familiarity with best practices and market trends;
Experience with expatriate compensation and administration;
Experience in a global organization;
Knowledge of Oracle applications is considered an asset;
Superior analytical and mathematical skills, high proficiency in Excel (manipulating, managing, and interpreting data);
Ability to interact with and influence others effectively (regional, corporate and cross-functionally);
Ability to research and identify problems, develop proposals and potential solutions, conduct analysis independently;
Ability to display a high degree of confidentiality and professional judgment;
Logical thinker that can be the tactical implementer of new programs;
Proven ability to set priorities, and to execute and manage multiple tasks;
Ability to solve complex problems;
Customer orientation; and
Sense of urgency.
