Golder has an opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join our team based in our Christchurch office. You will be reporting directly to the Managing Director - New Zealand, and have an overall accountability for the operational management, financial success and sustainability of the Christchurch operation.
A key aspect of this role is developing business and building a high performing operation, by working in consultation with senior leaders across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
In collaboration with senior leaders, implementing Golder’s 2020 business strategy as it relates to the Christchurch business.
Maintaining a strong and sustainable culture in line with Golder’s Core values and code of conduct, ensuring accountability for performance at all levels.
Developing and maintaining relationships with key clients and developing and implementing business growth strategies with other senior leaders.
Sharing technical knowledge though reviews of project work, bids and proposals.
Providing leadership in implementing organisational change, health and safety technical development and quality.
Ensuring project and risk management protocols are rigorously and consistently applied throughout the proposal, negotiation and execution phases of all projects and addressing project and business risk management issues, facilitating resolution, reporting material risks to the Managing Director and assisting to mitigate and eliminate risks.
Develop annual financial budgets and quarterly forecasts and report on the overall progress and results against operation and financial objectives.
Maintaining financial success of the operation through achievement of annual budgets
Skills, Qualification and Experience
Tertiary qualifications, or higher in Science or Engineering.
Significant years’ experience working in a consulting environment and have held a general/operational management role with profit and loss responsibility for at least 5 years.
Strong business acumen and experience managing financial operations of a business, including maintaining working capital in line with company objectives and targets.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills to enable a strong culture and delivery of client focused services.
Ability to liaise with a diverse group of people at all levels and working with functional groups including finance, risk and HR.
