Golder Associates is currently seeking a Geoscience Remote Data Manager to join our Columbus, Ohio office. In this role you will support continued development and expansion of a regionally focused environmental and engineering consulting practice. Primary duties include providing remote data collection, analysis, and processing for programmatic support primarily for midstream oil and gas clients.

Candidates must have a strong understanding of field data collection methods, data interpretation, analysis, and processing, staff coordination, and project management. They will also possess the experience to help Golder increase implementation and utilization of our geoscience data acquisition and management practice.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in diverse technical project teams, be client focused. A responsibility of this position would be to help expand Golder’s spatial technological capabilities and support building a practice to offer digital acquisition, processing, and information delivery services to clients throughout the US with a focus in the Appalachian Basin. The position requires providing remote support to multiple regional offices.


  • Serve as a data acquisition manager to support environmental and engineering client projects and programs across the life cycle of work, including problem definition, solution development, and delivery.

  • Process spatial field data into Civil3D AutoCAD and Geographic Information System (GIS) data formats.

  • Develop scope and execute projects independently and with broader teams

  • Coordinate and lead teams of field technicians to collect site specific data required for project planning, engineering design, and as-built asset management.

  • Lead and support project development and delivery, which includes providing input on data acquisition components of client proposals, managing remote data collection tasks, providing senior reviews, developing technical teams, and delivering training as needed.

  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to obtain remote geospatial data requirements for client needs.

  • Maintain, grow, and develop existing and new client relationships (both internal and external to Golder)

  • Work to build business opportunities with other Golder staff around the company

  • Work with regional and technical leadership and teams to develop and maintain expertise in technologies to serve key business interests


  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering

  • Minimum 7 years' relevant work experience

  • Background in field data collection equipment including GPS-RTKs, Total Stations, Underground Utility Locators

  • Experience with indirect and direct utility locate methods.

  • Acute attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies

  • Excellent verbal communication with strong writing and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and with a global team

  • Understanding the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs


  • Certification in Operator Qualifications:

  • Task 605 Locate Line/Install Temporary Marking of Buried Pipeline

  • Task 617 - Locate Buried Facilities with an Electro-magnetic Device

  • Task 909 – Data Collection for As-built
