Golder Associates Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer in DONCASTER, United Kingdom

The Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer will provide technical support to intermediate and senior levels within the Underground Infrastructure Division, assisting with both office and occasionally site based civil, structural and mining engineering work. The work will include preparation of calculations drawings and reports relating to the design of surface and subsurface structures throughout the world and on occasion assisting with structural inspections. The Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer will have the opportunity to join the Golder Associates (UK) Institution of Civil Engineers approved training scheme and will be required to learn and demonstrate key skills and competencies over their first 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

· Analysis and design of both structural elements and structural systems typically using Steel, Concrete and Timber;

· Preparation of structural design calculations;

· Computer based Finite element and analytical engineering modelling;

· Assisting with the development of novel design solutions and engineering calculations from first principles.

· Assisting with design report and presentation writing;

· Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other external design teams;

· Developing and maintaining good relationships with both new and existing clients and be able to effectively represent Golder Associates when required;

· Working in a collaborative way, taking direction from and supporting intermediate and senior staff, to achieve project goals and meet deadlines as part of the Underground Infrastructure Division;

· Supporting Project Managers in business development activities, proposals and other related administrative tasks;

· Project based travel and site work, working away both in the UK and internationally. The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need;

· A Civil Engineering Degree in a relevant subject;

· A strong understanding of structural behaviour;

· Proven attention to detail;

· Understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to manipulate CAD drawings;

· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written (in English);

· Strong technical writing ability and reporting skills;

· Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to proactively interact with teams throughout the world;

· A genuine enthusiasm for the role, displaying a willingness to learn and develop;

· Ability to work in a collaborative manner as part of a team;

· Ability to make decisions and display initiative;

· Good organisational ability and time management skills;

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and

· Flexibility, willingness and ability to travel both locally and internationally.
