Golder Associates Intermediate Geotechnical Technician in EDMONTON, Alberta

Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Technician to join our Construction Services and Materials Testing team on a full-time basis, located at the Windsor office.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Completing construction materials field and laboratory testing;

  • Providing oversight and quality control of technical services in a field, office and laboratory environment;

  • Coordination of construction materials field and laboratory testing and scheduling;

  • Supervision of junior team members;

  • Review of laboratory testing results;

  • Perform duties required of Radiation Safety Officer for Windsor office for nuclear densometer use;

  • Attend site/client meetings as required;

  • Supervise and/or carry out site geotechnical inspections of construction work and materials testing;

  • Conduct in situ testing of various materials on construction sites, compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt;

  • Monitor civil site works, including fill placement and engineered fill construction;

  • Perform laboratory testing on construction materials;

  • Prepare daily field inspection reports and assist with project documentation including preparation of written summary letters, proposals, and/or reports;

  • Management of construction materials testing project budgets, preparation of change orders, and review of project invoicing;

  • Participate in a team environment;

  • Work with and support senior technicians and engineers and provide training to junior members of the field technician group, and;.

  • Where necessary work independently, connecting with senior personnel as required for clarity and direction.

You will have a background in:

  • College technical diploma in a related discipline (civil, construction, geotechnical, environmental);

  • 3 or more relevant years of practical experience.

  • Currently holding CCIL certified for concrete testing would be a benefit;

  • Strong people skills and a desire and ability to work in the field within a team environment;

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);

  • Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license;

  • Be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. samples and field equipment;

  • Being available for extended days and work weeks as required due to contractor schedule and field assignments;

  • Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and
