Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Aquatics Technician to join our Biophysical team on a contractual basis based in Edmonton, Calgary or Saskatoon.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • Preparingand adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminaterisks to you, Golder's clients, employees, and the public

  • Participatingin field work for various types of developments including rail, power, mines,oil and gas facilities, infrastructure, and pipelines

  • Workingindividually or within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Interactingwith clients and contractors within a variety of settings

  • Recordingand managing project related field data and notes and assisting withdeliverable preparation

  • Completingtasks efficiently while adhering to current industry standards and regulatoryrequirements

You will have abackground in:

  • Technicaldiploma or degree

  • Minimumof one year of work experience with environmental field work and field datacollection

  • Apositive and enthusiastic attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability towork with minimal supervision

  • Willingnessto travel for extended periods sometimes with little notice

  • Abilityto work in a dynamic environment

  • Willingnessto perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions

  • Understandingof basic field sampling methods and sample collection techniques as well asworking knowledge of basic field equipment such as a GPS, boats, ATVs, waterquality meters etc.

  • Strongawareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude

  • Stronginterpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail andaccuracy of field notes

  • Experiencewith fish and fish habitat sampling methods

  • Avalid driver’s license

Experience with thefollowing are considered assets:

  • Environmentalmonitoring experience on construction sites

  • Experiencewith a variety of fish collection methods including electrofishing, gillnetting and trapping

  • Experienceconducting general wildlife, bird, vegetation, or soil surveys

  • Experienceworking with boats, motors, ATVs, and mechanical troubleshooting

  • PleasureCraft Operator Card

  • Jobspecific training courses, such as Electrofishing Certification

  • Experiencewith fish and fish habitat sampling

  • Experienceconducting general wildlife, bird, or vegetation surveys

  • Experienceworking in remote areas
