Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Aquatics Technician to join our Biophysical team on a contractual basis based in Edmonton, Calgary or Saskatoon.
An overview of yourrole will include:
Preparingand adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminaterisks to you, Golder's clients, employees, and the public
Participatingin field work for various types of developments including rail, power, mines,oil and gas facilities, infrastructure, and pipelines
Workingindividually or within multi-disciplinary teams
Interactingwith clients and contractors within a variety of settings
Recordingand managing project related field data and notes and assisting withdeliverable preparation
Completingtasks efficiently while adhering to current industry standards and regulatoryrequirements
You will have abackground in:
Technicaldiploma or degree
Minimumof one year of work experience with environmental field work and field datacollection
Apositive and enthusiastic attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability towork with minimal supervision
Willingnessto travel for extended periods sometimes with little notice
Abilityto work in a dynamic environment
Willingnessto perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions
Understandingof basic field sampling methods and sample collection techniques as well asworking knowledge of basic field equipment such as a GPS, boats, ATVs, waterquality meters etc.
Strongawareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude
Stronginterpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail andaccuracy of field notes
Experiencewith fish and fish habitat sampling methods
Avalid driver’s license
Experience with thefollowing are considered assets:
Environmentalmonitoring experience on construction sites
Experiencewith a variety of fish collection methods including electrofishing, gillnetting and trapping
Experienceconducting general wildlife, bird, vegetation, or soil surveys
Experienceworking with boats, motors, ATVs, and mechanical troubleshooting
PleasureCraft Operator Card
Jobspecific training courses, such as Electrofishing Certification
Experiencewith fish and fish habitat sampling
Experienceconducting general wildlife, bird, or vegetation surveys
Experienceworking in remote areas
