Golder Associates is seeking a dynamic junior to intermediate Mine Reclamation and Closure Consultant to assist on mine closure and reclamation projects as part of the Mine Closure Team , based in the Vancouver or Edmonton offices. Alternate locations may be considered.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in mining and methods of reclaiming and closing mine sites. An understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of reclamation and closure planning is integral to this position, including mine engineering, geochemistry, hydrology, and revegetation. Strength in one aspect of mine reclamation and closure, with interest in learning about the other disciplines that contribute to mine reclamation and closure plans, may be acceptable.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams that provide input to mine reclamation and closure plans, from conceptual studies to design and implementation.

  • Summarizing engineering and environmental science reports.

  • Compiling and writing sections of overall mine closure plans for client review and regulatory submission.

  • Working with senior colleagues and clients to determine options, risks, and mitigations for reclamation and closure challenges.

  • Understanding, summarizing, and interpreting regulatory permits, guidelines, and best practices.

You will have a background in:

  • A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Science program. Specialities could include Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geochemistry, Soil Science, Plant Science, Reclamation or Rehabilitation

  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with technical specialists from multiple disciplines

  • Ability to research and understand regulatory requirements, environmental conditions, and best practices for different jurisdictions.

  • Familiarity with the mining industry and mining developments

  • Experience or interest in environmental consulting

  • A comfort level in presenting to and speaking with project teams, technical leaders, and clients

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Well-developed computer skills and strong organizational skills
