Golder Associates Biological / Natural Resources Scientist in ELKO, Nevada
Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a junior-level Biological or Natural Resources Scientist for the Elko office to provide a variety of biological, ecological, environmental and regulatory permitting services to our high-profile projects in northern Nevada and throughout the world. Due to increasing workloads, we currently have an immediate and long-term opening for a biological or natural resources scientist in our Elko, Nevada office.
The successful candidate/s will provide support for biological surveys and monitoring, planning, design and permitting expertise on large mining projects. As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will apply your biological science capabilities to a variety of projects. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in a biological or natural resources science such as botany, range science, soil science, ornithology, or wildlife biology, but should also be willing and motivated to apply their broader professional skills to a variety of projects and duties. While the primary focus will be on local mining projects, opportunities will exist to work on a variety of large environmental projects, as well as with other Golder offices worldwide.
Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, Golder's clients, employees and the public.
Participating on environmental projects from the proposal stage to planning and execution.
Field data collection, analysis and interpretation, report writing and client/project coordination.
Participating in conducting field studies, collecting monitoring data, and preparing reports for a wide range of projects.
Collecting, preparing and tracking information for various project documents including proposals and progress reports.
Undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office, including baseline field studies, construction compliance monitoring, site reconnaissance, field biological surveys, client meetings, etc.
Adhering to QA/ QC procedures to ensure completion of project documents according to company standards.

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a biological or natural resources science, such as botany or range science.
Self-motivated and well organized.
Strong technical writing skills.
A strong “safety first” focus.
Preference for a strong academic knowledge of or experience working with Great Basin flora and fauna.
Preference given to those with previous related field experience, mine environment experience, or related permitting experience.
A valid driver’s license is required.
