Golder has a new opportunity for a junior Water Resources Engineer to join our Mining Team in a Full-Time position at our Elko office. This individual will work collaboratively with mining, geotechnical, and environmental engineers to deliver mine water management solutions to our clients. You will work closely with local leaders, and report to the Group Leader, as part of the North America Mine Water business.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Under the direction of intermediate and senior staff, participate in awide range of engineering and mining projects, from conceptual water managementplanning to detailed design of water infrastructure.
Support hydrologic assessments, site-wide and tailings impoundment waterbalances, options assessments for water management infrastructure, hydraulic designand streamflow evaluations, and design of water distribution, diversions andcontrol structures.
Conduct field work at active and closed mine sites involving watermanagement audits, flow measurements, environmental sampling, constructionquality assurance, drilling and geotechnical investigation support.
Be responsible for computer aided design (CAD) graphics and engineeringdrawings.
Complete engineering calculations and technical specifications.
Write proposals and reports.
Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with interest in water resourcesmanagement and assessments related to hydrology, hydraulic structures, anddesign.
Professional engineering designation, or ability to obtain within 4years, in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
High degree of proficiency with MS Office suite of programs, inparticular Excel, Word and Project.
Aptitude for modelling software and ACAD.
Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, mentoring, writingand people skills.
High degree of motivation, strategic planning, and self-startingcapability.
Ability and interest in doing field work, ranging from day trips torotational programs (2 to 3 weeks at a time)
2 years’ experience in surface water management and/or projects involvingpumps and pipelines.
Experience in consulting and/or the mining industry, includingfamiliarity with mine sites and operations.
Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Registration as an EI orEIT in Nevada or other state, or eligibility to obtain registration within 6months.
OSHA and MSHA training.
