Golder has a new opportunity for Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our Manchester, New Hampshire or York, Maine office location to work as part of a team working on civil, geotechnical, and geological engineering projects. In this role, you will perform geotechnical design analyses, evaluations, and calculations, write technical documents, manage subsurface investigations, and provide field monitoring and testing for a variety of ground engineering and infrastructure projects related to Golder's core sectors of transportation, government, and power. Assignments may include field work in various climates or travel to remote locations.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Perform geotechnical analyses with computer models for pile and drilled shaft foundation capacities, slope/embankment stability, MSE wall foundation design, and foundation/embankment settlement estimates;
Prepare geotechnical design and construction recommendations reports that include calculations and descriptions of modeling efforts with senior review;
Prepare geotechnical data reports with site investigation information;
Scope, execute, and interpret subsurface explorations, with senior technical advice and review;
Assist with writing reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review;
Be willing and able to work on projects across sectors, performing a variety of suitable tasks as projects demand;
Perform well in a variety of scenarios including working with several teams, contractors, and with cross-discipline in-house designers, requiring minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will meet the following required conditions:
A BS in Civil Engineering;
A minimum of 5 years of related work experience with at least one year of experience in geotechnical engineering;
Excellent analytical abilities;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Focused organization and time management abilities
Leadership interest and ability;
Ability to work both independently and within groups;
Ability to travel for field work as dictated by project demands;
A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice;
Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Preference will be given to Candidates with the following:
MS in Geotechnical Engineering or an MS in Civil Engineering with structural or geotechnical focus;
Additional desirable skills such as field logging and sampling of soil and rock; experience with analyses of slope stability, settlement, earth retention, foundations, and structural engineering; construction observation experience; implementation and measurement of field instrumentation; advanced geotechnical laboratory testing; rock engineering; or other geotechnical analyses.
