Golder Associates Environmental Scientist I in HORSEHEADS, New York

Golder Associates is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to support field and consulting activities in our shale gas operations in Horseheads, New York.


  • Providing technical support on projects involving spill response, environmental assessment, remediation, and waste management services to Oil & Gas, industrial and solid waste clients within the region

  • Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing on-call services for environmental emergency responses

  • Performing inspection and oversight of excavation and construction projects

  • Coordinating with clients and subcontractors

  • Sampling water, soil, air, and waste

  • Completing field documentation and assisting with report preparation

  • Maintaining and managing environmental test equipment

  • Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to oneself and other Golder staff, client’s personnel and the public

  • Reporting all health and safety concerns, incidents and near miss events and participating in all office-lead health and safety initiatives


  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related science field

  • Must have experience using GIS mapping software

  • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license

  • Must have ability to travel up to 75% of the time for out-of-town project opportunities, including periods of more than one week

  • Must have the ability to work overtime and during weekends on short notice

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, and drug and alcohol screening

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to work with highly motivated project team

  • Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience using Microsoft® Office products

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER

  • Local candidate preferred
