Golder is seeking a self-directed, hands-on, Environmental Engineer to join our Irvine, California team. The position will focus on the execution of assessment and remediation projects for our diverse range of national clients that have operations in and around Southern California. This will include developing proposals and work plans, control of budget and schedule, maintaining technical quality, and working in a fast-paced, but team-oriented, environment.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will work under the direction of our senior leadership on a wide variety of environmental projects. This candidate will also be knowledgeable of the regulatory requirements establishing the need for and governing site assessment and remediation. Further, the candidate will be familiar with the human health and ecological risk assessment processes and will understand how environmental assessment supports those processes, and how they in turn provide the basis for remediation. It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience with a wide-range of contaminants (e.g., petroleum, chlorinated solvents, pesticides, PCBs, metals, emerging compounds) and media (e.g., soil, groundwater, soil gas, sediments, storm water).
Manage multiple site assessment and remediation projects involving impacted soil, groundwater, soil gas, sediments, and storm water.
Prepare work plans and proposals, with a thorough understanding of the requirements for drilling and sampling, including appropriate analytical methods and remediation technologies.
With senior staff, develop cost-effective remedial solutions with the regulatory agencies.
Delegate and monitor project assignments to junior staff.
Mentor junior staff.
Conduct Phase I and II environmental site assessments.
Prepare remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial action work plans, and remedial action plans.
Plan and oversee field work, including drilling, sampling, well construction, pilot tests, and installation and start-up of remedial systems.
Stay up to date on evolving regulatory requirements related to assessment and remediation
Engage with, collaborate with, and develop internal team relationships with other Golder staff.
Bachelor’sdegree required (Master’s degree preferred) in engineering.
Aminimum of 6 years of experience including an increasing level of projectmanagement responsibility for site investigations under a variety of local,state, and federal jurisdictions (e.g., EPA, DTSC, RWQCB)
Knowledgeof standard site assessment techniques and analytical methods
Fieldexperience collecting environmental samples for soil, groundwater, soil gas,sediment, and storm water,
Experiencesupervising hollow-stem auger, direct push, air rotary and mud rotary drilling(preferred)
40-HourOSHA HAZWOPR certification (preferred)
Effectiveverbal and written communication skills
CaliforniaProfessional Geologist or Professional Engineer registration (preferred)
