Golder is seeking a Senior Technician to join our Irvine, California office. In this role you will lead the field activities for the operation, maintenance, and environmental monitoring of major brownfield redevelopment project. This project requires a hands-on individual with knowledge and experience related to landfill gas management, groundwater remediation, and environmental monitoring of air and water.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, Golder's clients, employees, and the public
Coordinating field operations
Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents
Maintaining excellent field notes and collecting and handling samples
Collection of noise, water, air, and landfill gas system quality samples
Assisting in the delivery of samples to an analytical laboratory
Operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and treatment systems
Operation and maintenance of groundwater extraction and water treatment systems
Supervising subcontractors for electrical and mechanical repairs, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring, air monitoring and other related activities.
Differentiating out-of-scope work from routine O&M tasks and coordinating with the management team to develop supporting scope and budget estimates
Assisting the management team to prepare invoices and track costs
Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of monitoring instruments, field equipment, and vehicles related to the job
Preparing and coordinating project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs
Filing and managing all project-related field notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation
Performing and recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements.
At least 10 years of experience collecting vapor and water environmental samples in accordance with a sampling plan under chain of custody
Experience operating and maintaining monitoring instruments, pump repairs, generators, blowers, and landfill gas flare systems.
High school diploma
A positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work with little supervision
Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy of field notes
A valid driver’s license
Daily field notes and construction documentation.
The ability to communicate constructively with contractors, owners and Golder Project Managers is essential.
Must have good interpersonal skills, present a professional appearance, and be able to work independently
Must be available at times for emergency call-outs relating to system outages
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk up/down slopes.
Must be able to work up to 12-hours outdoors in hot or cold environments safely.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

Familiarity with air strippers and granular activated carbon systems
