Golder has a new opportunity for a Staff Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our team in a Full-Time position at our Irvine, California office. In this role you will support project managers for contaminated land sites requiring site assessment/characterization, remedial planning and remedial action, and long-term operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM). The staff geologist/hydrogeologist will be involved in all stages of the project including planning, permitting, regulator and stakeholder engagement, field execution, documentation and reporting, and project closeout.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Complete subsurface site investigations including completing drilling observation, soil classification, and well installation
Complete groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling
Data interpretation and report writing
Prepare geologic boring logs, cross-sections, groundwater contour maps and iso-concentration maps
Work on the operation, maintenance and monitoring of remedial systems.
Complete Phase I environmental site assessments and Phase II contaminated site investigations
Utilize specialized computer skills including database applications, groundwater, and contaminant modeling software, and/or gINT
Writing work plans, technical reports, and managing budgets
Coordinating with contractors to support project objectives
A Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology
A minimum of three years of progressive and applicable experience
Ability for extended local, national, and/or international overnight travel and fieldwork, based on project demands. Field work may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates and terrains
Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Willingness to operate and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment, and ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
Strong technical and communication skills
Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training, with 8-hour refresher updates, as applicable
Master’s degree in geology or hydrogeology
G.I.T. certification or a P.G. or C.H.G. license (in California preferred)
