Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Project Process Safety Scientist for the Jacksonville, FL office. This individual will provide technical support on a variety of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance projects, as well as assist on a variety of environmental health and safety (EHS) projects.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Developing, supporting and implementing Process Safety Management and Risk Management programs for industrial clients to comply with the OSHA PSM Standard 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA RMP rule 40 CFR Part 68;

  • Conducting PSM/RMP related field assignments, such as performing PSM/RMP compliance audits, facilitating Process Hazards Analyses (PHAs), and assisting clients with PSM-required documentation, procedure development, and employee training;

  • Preparing Offsite Consequence Analyses (OCAs) and RMP submittals

  • Preparing technical reports, including documentation of PSM/RMP audits, RMP Submittals and OCAs, and PHAs;

  • Assisting with other EHS compliance projects and on EHS audit teams.

This individual should expect to spend approximately 50% of their work time at client sites throughout the United States. This individual should be capable of conducting visual inspections at industrial facilities, including climbing ladders, walking up stairs, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment when required. The individual will gain increasing responsibility for project and proposal management through training provided by Golder.


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science; Chemistry; Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences, or related discipline.

  • Minimum of seven years of PSM and/or RMP compliance experience with working knowledge of the OSHA PSM Standard 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA RMP rule 40 CFR Part 68.

  • Training and experience in facilitating PHAs, including the What-If and Hazard and Operability Study techniques.

  • Experience developing and auditing PSM and RMP programs in industrial settings.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing, proposal writing, and leading PHA teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and web-based applications.

  • Proficiency with PHA Pro or similar PHA software.

  • Proficiency in using EPA’s RMPComp software and RMPEsubmit reporting software.

  • Familiarity with EHS regulatory programs and auditing.


  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science; Chemistry; Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences, or related discipline.

  • Certification in field (i.e. PE, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent).

  • Training and experience in Layer of Protection Analysis technique.

  • Experience in industrial hygiene.
