Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a senior EHS Compliance and Management Scientist/Engineer reporting to the EHS Team in Jacksonville, FL for an hourly on-call position to supplement our full-time staff when needed, primarily for project work in Latin America, although projects within the U.S. or other international locations may be assigned from time to time.

This individual will provide technical support on a variety of EHS compliance projects including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting field assignments, such as performing EHS compliance audits, conducting training, chemical inventory assessments, job hazard assessments, and similar assignments;

  • Developing programs, performing audits, and providing training to support clients’ ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and other EHS management systems;

  • Providing EHS compliance program support for industrial clients, including developing procedures and permits, preparing and submitting periodic regulatory reports, and preparing EHS training programs

  • Conducting M&A due diligence assessments; Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations; soil and groundwater contamination assessments; environmental impact investigations, biological studies and associated environmental permitting; and hydrologic investigations.

  • Preparing technical reports, including documentation of audits and field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, and development of graphical and tabular presentation of data in both Spanish and English.

Job Requirements


This position requires travel to and work at client sites, primarily in Latin America, for information gathering, audits, and site inspections. This individual should expect to spend most of their work time at client sites located in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean; each individual trip will generally last 3 to 5 days for this position, with some assignments requiring up to 2 weeks at a client location. This individual should be fluent in both Spanish and English and capable of traveling on short notice. This individual should also can conduct visual inspections at industrial facilities, including climbing ladders and walking up stairs. The individual will be on-call, working on projects managed by others and will not be expected to manage projects or conduct business development activities initially, but may be called upon to manage project tasks or fulfill the role of client point of contact. Interacting with clients and regulators to meet task and budget requirements is a key to success in this position.

  • Twenty years of related experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or similar scientific discipline

  • Certification in field, including CSP, CHMM, PG or equivalent, depending on qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with reviewing and applying federal, state, and local EHS regulations and international standards

  • Experience developing and auditing EHS programs in industrial settings preferred

  • Experience with EHS management systems, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001; formal auditor training is preferred

  • Experience with LNAPL, DNAPL, metals, and pesticide contaminants preferred

  • Project management experience, including complex projects involving communication and coordination with sub-contractors and vendors, including laboratories and drillers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and proposal writing in both Spanish and English

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and web-based applications
