Golder has a new opportunity for a Field Archaeologist for the upcoming 2019 Field Season. This is a seasonal contract position based in Kamloops.

Fieldwork will be primarily located in the Kamloops area and is expected to begin in late April and end in late October. This may be extended or shortened depending on changing schedules and/or weather conditions.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Carrying out archaeological survey, test excavation and mitigative excavation under the direction of the Field Crew Supervisor or Field Director

  • Working with Indigenous crews in a highly respectful and collaborative manner

  • Demonstrating a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff

  • Complying with Golder’s Fit for Duty Policy

  • Maintaining a high standard of ethical behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values

  • Working in a variety of environments, such as all-weather conditions and rugged and remote locations

  • Performing other duties as required, including but not limited to, artifact analysis, reporting, and research

You will have a background in:

  • An Archaeology, Anthropology or related Degree or Diploma from a recognized program

  • A collaborative approach to field work in a cross-cultural setting

  • Some knowledge of British Columbia archaeology

  • Able to work in varying terrain and weather conditions

  • Ability to do strenuous field work, including hiking in uneven terrain, carrying heavy loads and manual excavating

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to take direction and work in both a team environment and independently

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5)
