Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Remediation and Water team on a full-time basis based in Kelowna.
An overview of your role as a Junior Hydrogeologist includes:
Field and office-based work for a wide variety of physical hydrogeology studies, including mine hydrogeology, groundwater assessments, dewatering, environmental impact assessments, water supply, and groundwater protection.
Participation in contaminated sites projects, including contaminant investigation, characterisation, and remediation of contaminated sites.
Field work will consist of drilling and well construction oversight, borehole logging, aquifer testing, pumping tests, and groundwater, soil and vapour sampling, and may sometimes require out‑of‑town work commitments for up two to three week periods.
Assistance with the analysis and interpretation of data, groundwater modelling and the preparation of reports.
Commitment to Golder’s health and safety programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
A Masters degree in hydrogeology (or hydrogeology‑based undergraduate degree) from an accredited university
Eligibility for registration with EGBC
Valid driver’s license
Strong, all-round academic knowledge of hydrogeology
Understanding of basic drilling, water well installation and testing and water sampling techniques
An interest in numerical groundwater flow modelling would be an asset
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills
Good interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Solid organizational skills (prioritization, time management, record keeping, follow up, tracking)
Interest and ability to conduct complex field work for extended period.
