Golder has a new opportunity for a Modeling Specialist in one of our West Coast Mining Offices (Portland, Tempe, Reno or Denver) for a Full-Time position with our Mine Engineering and Stability Group.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Apply mechanical principles to surface and underground problems using state of the art design and numerical software.
Develop techniques and methods to create solutions for mechanical issues.
Perform specialist numerical modeling and simulation in support of engineering projects.
Prepare technical documentation to support analytical and numerical studies.
Be a self-starter and be able to take ownership of project tasks using their technical knowledge.
Contribute to technical solutions spanning multiple engineering disciplines
Masters or PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Mechanical / Civil /Mining Engineering or related field.
2 to 5 years of relevant simulation or modeling experience;
Experience in numerical analyses for engineering applications;
Experience in developing models drawing on in-depth theoretical understanding of numerical methods including 3D finite difference, distinct element, and finite element;
Proficient in use of commercial codes (such as FLAC, UDEC, PFC, FLAC3D, 3DEC, Map 3D, Abaqus, Plaxis);
Experience with Computer aided design (CAD) software;
Experience with general-purpose scripting/programming is an asset (C , Python, etc.);
Experience in developing complex 3D geometries for numerical modeling purposes;
Related training geotechnical, rock, or mine engineering is an asset;
Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office software suite (e.g., Word, Excel).
Self-motivated and well organized;
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to travel Nationally and internationally.
- Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Civil/Mining Engineering.
