Golder Associates’ continued growth has resulted in the need for a Project Mining Engineer to join our community of high performing engineers, scientists, and business professionals. This opportunity will be based in our Lakewood office. Our clients in the global mining industry expect the best from us and you will help us deliver it by providing high‑calibre technical solutions for the development of mineral projects in a safe, cost-effective, and responsible manner.

Salary range: $65,520 - $98,280

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Perform strategic modeling, design and engineering analyses duties, including interactive mine design and sequencing utilizing various mine modeling software packages

  • Conduct a full range of mine engineering functions, including:

  • Detailed design of open pit and underground mines

  • Engineering trade-off studies

  • Cost estimation and economic analysis of alternatives

  • Preparation of technical documents including public disclosure documents for Mineral Resources and Reserves

  • Support both the engineering and geologic aspects of projects as necessary

  • Apply Golder’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects

  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments

  • Perform business development activities, including client contact/presentations, proposal writing and professional society participation.

  • Serve as an internal technical resource and provide guidance and mentorship to junior-level staff.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mining engineering or a related field

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience with an emphasis on open pit and/or underground mine planning, design and scheduling

  • Experience as a consulting engineer or with a technical services role within a mining company

  • Strong English technical writing skills with experience writing proposals and technical reports.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills

  • Experience utilizing mine planning, design and scheduling software packages such as MineScape, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, Gemcom, Mine 2-4D, and EPS

  • Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations

Desired:

  • Current registration, or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer

  • Status, or ability to obtain status of Qualified Person for Disclosure Reporting

  • Fluency in languages other than English (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese)
