Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Mine Closure Consultant to join Golder’s global Mining Business in one of our US offices (possibly Reno, Elko, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson, Denver, Silver City, or Albuquerque). You would provide specialist services related to mining and mine closure projects, with a focus on one of the following: integrated project delivery, civil/geotechnical engineering, water management, geochemistry and water quality, permitting, and/or reclamation.
The selected professional will have the opportunity provide leadership in the development and implementation of closure plans and related studies for some of the world’s top mining companies, in a company that places high value on technical excellence. This will also be an opportunity to work with, mentor, and grow multidisciplinary teams of professionals. The position will include opportunities for both national and international work.
Your role and responsibilities will include:
Leading and reviewing technical studies related to mine closure, from conceptual studies through to detailed design and implementation.
Providing technical expertise related to options assessments, evaluations, and selection.
Delivering complex projects involving large teams, changing demands, and multiple stakeholders.
Providing leadership and mentoring to professionals across Golder’s business units.
Collaborating with Golder colleagues on new opportunities and in response to Golder client requests; leading and contributing to proposal and opportunity management.
Growing the business by interacting with clients as the face of Golder, and leveraging your existing network of mining industry contacts.
Offering innovative solutions to clients through project delivery and business development initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
As a Senior Mine Closure Consultant / Engineer you will have the following skills and qualifications:
A strong technical background with an advanced degree or equivalent experience in a technical field related to mine closure
At least 15 years of professional experience, with a significant focus on mine closure and closure-related issues. 20 years preferred.
Experience with the development and execution of mine closure plans, preferably working with major mining companies.
Experience with developing closure cost estimates, using various tools, for corporate and regulatory purposes.
Demonstrated success in the consulting field, with the ability to build multidisciplinary teams, develop business, and provide excellent client service
A history of publishing/presenting on closure related topics
