Golder has a new opportunity for a “Environmental Social Impact Assessment Professional” to join our team in LATAM, on a full time contract.

Job Responsibilities

Participate in the proposal preparation, work plan development, and project delivery of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment projects across Central and South America and the Caribbean. Primary focus will be on capturing and delivering projects for International Financing Institutions. Secondary focus will be on expansion of services to existing customers and in existing markets relating to ESIA. Existing customers work in the O&G, Mining, and Power Sectors. Additional responsibilities include participation in water resource, climate change, and social projects.

Job Requirements

  • Must have proven knowledge and experience in successfully performing and managing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments

  • Must have proven knowledge and experience in Environmental and Social Compliance and Monitoring

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience performing and/or participating in IFC compliant socio-economic assessments

  • Work experience with IFI’s (Examples: IDB, World Bank, IFC, CIFI) is essential, as is knowledge of their policies and procedures in Latin America and/or the Caribbean

  • Experience with Biodiversity, Protected Areas, and Natural Resource Conservation

  • Knowledge of Wetlands and Watershed Management

  • Experience incorporating Equator Principals and International Best Practices into project deliverables

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines and office locations

  • Experience with ISO26000, AA1000, and SA8000 Social Auditing preferred

  • Demonstrate Project Management experience managing single projects and/or multiple projects with budgets more than $100,000 USD

  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with financial institutions, regulators, senior client representatives, multiple internal offices, and sub-contractors

  • Must be available to reside in Latin America and/or the Caribbean

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules

  • Periodically assume the role of team leader and supervise the work of team members

  • Strong analytical, writing, communication and advocacy skills

  • IT literacy, familiarity with e-presentation techniques and ability to operate with on-line web-based applications

  • Experience with Water Quality in Lakes and Reservoirs a plus

  • Experience in Sustainable Development and Climate Change related projects a plus

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in the Environmental Sciences and at least 10 years of relevant experience in the development of Environmental Social Impact Assessments

  • Bachelor’s Degree with verifiable experience in sustainable development, environmental and social compliance monitoring, and/or due diligence may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree

Language Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of the English and Spanish language, with exceptional writing, presentation and communication skills

  • Proficiency in other languages (Portuguese, Creole, French, Dutch) is a plus
