Golder has a new opportunity for a “ Senior Geotechnical Engineer ” to join our Rock Mechanics team on a full time contract basis based in Santiago, Chile.

We are looking for a seasoned Rock Mechanics Geotechnical Engineering expert, with more than 10 years’ experience in the mining/ engineering consulting industry, with a focus on open pit mining and underground mining.

This is a new position that´s intended for broaden our current team structure in Rock Mechanics and will support the overall business growth of the area, across the Latin-American Region.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Serve as second on board/ right hand to the regional Rock Mechanics leader.

  • Business Development, keep a close relationship with existing clients and further develop new client opportunities (Regional Client Programme).

  • Team Leader; someone that can effectively lead the team and work with a high level of autonomy.

  • Project Leadership; act as a trusted technical advisor/consultant, both for technical aspects of the project and people management needs.

You will have a background in:

  • Civil Engineer or Mining Civil Engineer specialised in Mining/Geotechnical Engineering and/or Rock Mechanics.

  • Open pit mining experience with a knowledge or some experience in underground mining

  • 10 years of professional experience in the mining industry or in specialised engineering consulting companies (A must)

  • Fieldwork experience directly working with Mining Operators, Shift Manager, etc.; in Mining companies (desirable).

  • Experience with stability analysis methods, including numerical modeling.

  • Leadership, clear communications and the ability to influence and engage peers.

  • The candidate shall have excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with a positive attitude and ability to work both independently and in groups.
