Golder has a new opportunity for a “Water Resource Engineer” to join our team in LATAM, on a full time contract.

Job Responsibilities

Participate in the proposal preparation, work plan development, and project delivery of water resource related services across Central and South America and the Caribbean. Primary focus will be on capturing and delivering projects for International Financing Institutions. Secondary focus will be on expansion of services to existing customers and in existing markets relating to water resource needs and services. Existing customers work in the O&G, Mining, and Power Sectors. Additional responsibilities include participation in climate change, social, and environmental projects.

Job Requirements

  • Must demonstrate refined project management skills

  • Must have proven Stormwater Master Planning experience (design and construction oversight preferred)

  • Proven Water and Wastewater Master Planning and modeling experience

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience with GIS and database development

  • Must have successfully performed watershed management related projects

  • Design of pump stations and or water conveyance systems a plus

  • Infiltration and inflow system analysis desired

  • Familiarization with water resource related infrastructure financial studies is preferable

  • Asset management experience desired

  • Work experience with IFI’s (IDB, World Bank, IFC, CIFI) is desirable, as is knowledge of their policies and procedures in Latin America and/or the Caribbean

  • Demonstrated experience managing single projects and/or multiple projects with budgets more than $100,000 USD

  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with financial institutions, regulators, senior client representatives, multiple internal offices, and sub-contractors

  • Must be available to reside in Latin America and/or the Caribbean

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage complex schedules

  • Experience incorporating Equator Principals and International Best Practices into project deliverables

  • Demonstrated experience using IFC Performance Standards

  • Periodically assume the role of team leader and supervise the work of team members

  • Strong analytical, writing, communication and advocacy skills

  • IT literacy, familiarity with e-presentation techniques and ability to operate with on-line web-based applications

  • Demonstrated understanding of the implications of climate change

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines

  • Verifiable construction management experience a plus

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience in water resource related projects across Latin America and/or the Caribbean

  • Bachelor’s Degree with specialized and verifiable experience in water resource projects for IFI in Latin America and/or the Caribbean may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree

Language Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of the English and Spanish language, with exceptional writing, presentation and communication skills

  • Proficiency in other languages (Portuguese, Creole, French, Dutch) is an asset
